2022 CAWDA Breed Award Rules
2022 CAWDA Breed Award Rules
Are you competing on your favorite Arabian, Quarter Horse, mule, Appaloosa or other equine breed? Show your support for your best horse by sponsoring a CAWDA Breed Recognition award.

CAWDA is offering an award to the highest scoring horse nominated by its registered breed in conjunction with the CAWDA High Point and Virtual High Point programs. This is a sponsored award; only sponsored breeds will be eligible.

Sponsorships are $100 per breed. Any breed may be sponsored including an “Unknown Breed/Unregistered Breed” horse. Sponsors will be listed in our 2022 eNews  and on our website and will be recognized at our year end awards banquet.

To sponsor a breed award, send your check and the breed you wish to sponsor to CAWDA, PO Box 44, Sunland, CA 91041.

To nominate your favorite four-legged competitor for a breed award, you must

1) Complete the Breed Nomination form here:
NOTE: You must nominate your horse in the current show year in order to be considered for a breed award. Breed nominations do not carry over from year to year.

2) Submit scores in accordance with CAWDA program rules and meet division qualifications under the CAWDA High Point or Virtual High Point program by the end of the high point year.

2022 Breed Award Rules (as of11/13/21):

1) Horse can only be nominated for one breed category.

2) The Horse within its breed category with the highest points will win the Breed Award. Highest points will be calculated by the Horse’s top five scores submitted and totaled.

Introductory Level and Freestyle scores to count regardless of rider’s status (i.e, Open, Amateur, Youth).

3) Horse may be ridden by more than one rider; top five scores will be selected from all qualified riders’ scores combined.

4) Scores will be counted if horse/rider combination is qualified by the end of the 2022 High Point year per CAWDA High Point rules. If horse is ridden by more than one rider, only the qualified combinations’ scores will count toward the Breed Award. Scores for any horse/rider combination that did not qualify per the CAWDA High Point rules will not be counted in the top five scores.

5) No equitation, suitability, hack or other “flat” classes to count.

6) In case of a tie, highest single score submitted will determine the winner.

7) Refer to the CAWDA High Point and Virtual High Point rules for eligibility and any circumstances not documented here.

8) CAWDA reserves the right to change these rules at any time at its discretion.
